Sign Petition to Get Justice for Murdered Philadelphia Dog Edna
A few weeks ago Edna was kidnaped from her home and tortured to death by two boys as they talked on the phone with Edna’s furdad. We can’t bring Edna back but we can help her family get closure on her murder by signing a petition.
My deepest sympathies to Edna’s family, including her furdad Bill.
I had my dog, Edna kidnapped, held for randsom, and killed by children who tortured her while I was on the phone pleading with them. There is an on-going police investigation. Its become a big news story in the Philadelphia area.

On October 31st, Bill Whiting’s worst nightmare came true. His little brown dog Edna went missing. Ten days later he received a phone call from kidnappers (2 boys, claiming to be age 16 and 9) who said they had Edna. He could hear Edna crying in the background as they were hurting the dog. Five hours later the kidnappers called back and said they killed Whiting’s dog.Whiting called the Philadelphia Police and Verizon so the phone numbers could be provided to the detectives to see who made those calls. The information was finally released by Verizon, 12 days after (as reported by Philadelphia Daily News) the Philadelphia Police warrant was received on November 16. Verizon also charged the City of Philadelphia $150 for the information.
Still Bill Whiting has no idea if his Edna is alive or dead.

There are no words to describe the depth of pain and sorrow I feel knowing what happened to Edna. And, conversely, there is no end to the anger and wrath I feel about and to, the less-than-human or canine, cretins who kidnapped, tortured and killed Edna. They should be tried as adults and they should go to jail for a long long time.
so sorry. so sad. they should charge the people involved with as many charges as possible. lockl them up. is this kid goingto tell the full story? I cant imagine people doing this. How sick. God created the dogs and cats to be our companions. I am so sorry that this happened. I would be heartsick if this happened to me because I have several furry kids. I will pray for you that justice is done in a big way. I hope they tell what they did with Edna. need closure.
We should all contact our congress-persons to get them to support legislation to make Verizon and other phone companies cooperate in a timely and free manner with the police. Their delay in releasing records in the Bill Whiting case is inexcusable.
It’s stories like these that drive me to street justice. Clearly the parents of these morons are complicit in their stupidity as well. It is the one thing that might cause me to inflict my own pain on those idiots.

Those kids are lucky that I don’t know who they are, because I couldn’t promise that I could hold back the anger. I’ll be praying for Edna and her dad that justice can be done and they can find peace.
This story all but rips my heart right out of my chest! These evil doers will never receive enough punishment to compensate for the pain and suffering of Edna and her family. God Bless and may you find peace…
This is horrible. How could anyone do something like this. And kids of all people. What is wrong with this world and where are the feelings that human beings are supposed to be born with? It seems that more and more we are hearing of young kids doing these terrible things. It must be a missing gene or something. I hope they catch those who are responsible for this and that justice is served.
I wish someone would please publish the name and address of this punk. It is time he got a dose of his own medicine. I know there are people out there who know his identity, it’s time to share this information with the rest of us.
These children know right from wrong and should be tried as adults ans suffer adult consquences. They are a menace.
I have been heartbroken over this story since I read it shortly after Halloween. I’ve been praying for Edna to return home, but it looks like that will never happen.
The miserable little punks who took Edna need to be tried as adults and sent away for the rest of their lives. Edna’s life had worth and meaning, their lives do not. They need to tell Mr. Whiting what they did with Edna. I’m still praying they just turned her loose and she’s with a family somewhere. Hoping against hope.
Hopefully, the judge in this case will see reason and this punk will be tried as an adult as he’s a menace to all living beings everywhere.
Mr. Whiting, you and Edna will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Take heart in the fact that before this no good loser interferred, Edna knew nothing but love. You and Edna have so many people praying for you.

ACTION ALERT: Calling all animal welfare advocates to help seek justice for Edna!
Join us March 5th, in Philadelphia, PA for a peaceful presence at a press conference concerning the case.
Victor Rodriguez, the juvenile of Nicetown charged with ‘terroristic threats’, ‘attempted robbery by extortion’ and a litany of other offences, following the ‘Edna’ animal cruelty case, failed to show up at his pre-trial hearing on January 31st (Petition #830-07-12 under the jurisdiction of Assistant District Attorney, Angel Flores) at the Youth Study Center. The court issued a bench warrant for his immediate arrest. Since then, Rodriguez has eluded Police.
In response to this case, a petition was created to Verizon and to Mayor Michael Nutter. The petition, which gathered over 5000 signatures, requested Verizon streamline its coordination with the Philadelphia Police and other law enforcement so delays in providing information would never happen again in cases of animal cruelty. Verizon responded with a cover letter enclosed with 2 responses that were previously posted in the Philadelphia Daily News. This cover letter and responses put the blame for the delay on the Philadelphia Police and did not address streamlining its policies with law enforcement. The petition also requested Mayor Michael Nutter address this case by putting the pressure on the Philadelphia Police to find the individual(s) responsible and to find Edna.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Join Edna’s guardian, William Whiting, at a press conference scheduled for March 5, 2008 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Verizon - Pennsylvania Building (1717 Arch Street, Philadelphia) to formally present the petition to Verizon and to Mayor Nutter.
Please share this action alert with all of your animal loving friends, family and rescue contacts. 5,000 of us signed this petition - now let’s see how many people we can get to physically come out and show their support!

Peaceful presence needed for hearing - supporters of Edna and Bill Whiting are requested!
Victor Rodriguez will face an adjudicatory hearing this coming Monday to face the ‘Edna terror/phone-threat’ court case.

It will be an adjudicatory hearing, and there is a good chance a verdict will be handed down that same day.
Only reporters will be allowed inside the courtroom, but supporters are welcome to participate in a peaceful presence outside 1801 Vine Street, where protest signs will be made available.
What you can do
Many supporters who attended the rally are unable to attend the hearing this Monday as they cannot get off from work again on short notice. We DESPERATELY need people come out and support Bill and Edna!

I have not even read this whole story and I am in tears. I cannot bear to read the whole thing. That was a horrible act of crime and those kids should be viciously punished. If they took one of my babies, needless to say I would be on death row right now. My heart goes out to you Bill and Edna. I don’t know how you do it, cause I know I won’t sleep well tonight. Edna, you poor little Angel.
