Tribune staff report
November 21, 2007

A Robbins man arrested and charged with crimes connected to dogfighting was ordered held in lieu of $20,000 bail Wednesday, authorities said.

Richard Colquitt, 39, of the 13800 block of Central Park Avenue was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis, illegal possession of certain dogs by a felon and cruel treatment to animals and failing animal ownership duties.

Colquitt was arrested Tuesday after Cook County sheriff’s detectives searched his house and found 12 pit bulls. The dogs had scars, and one was severely emaciated, officials said.

Colquitt has previous convictions from 2000 for armed violence and possession of cocaine.
