Thanks to the BBC for this news of what must be a completely unique use of a dog food bowl…

TV vet begins dog bowl challenge

Television vet Joe Inglis is due to row down the River Thames starting at Cricklade in Wiltshire in an enlarged dog bowl to raise money for charity.
Joe, from Vets in Practice, and his dog Jack are being sponsored to raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The dog bowl, made from an old cattle drinking trough, has been named The Mutty Bark.

The 150-mile challenge which begins at noon on Monday, is due to finish at Putney eight days later.

We linked to your blog in our coverage of Joe Inglis’ journey (http://www.nowpublic.com/node/542019). Rowing a rounded vessel down the river, I’m surprised it only took him nine days, but he certainly got my attention…
