British Performance Artist and Yoko Ono Eat Dead Corgi on Live Radio to Protest Fox Killing by Royal Family

I still think this is sick. And the fact that Yoko felt the need to get involved??? What would John have done? I doubt he would have munched down with them in roasted dog. Get naked? Sure! Get hungry for man’s best friend? Not likely! This keeps up I’m going to have to add a category for “Weird Dog News.”

And does anyone actually pay this guy to get gustatorial in public???

This article is from World News Australia.

Man eats dog with Yoko

A British artist has proven to be a man of his word after he followed through on his pledge to eat a corgi dog in support of a fox that was allegedly killed.

Mark McGowan says that a hunting group, which included the Queen’s husband Prince Phillip, allegedly killed a fox earlier this year.

Corgis are famous for being Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite breed of dog.

McGowan, who has previously eaten a swan as part of a performance art show, tucked into the dog alongside Yoko Ono, the widow of ex-Beatle John Lennon, live on a London radio station.

“I know some people will find this offensive and tasteless but I am doing this to raise awareness about the RSPCA’s inability to prosecute Prince Philip and his friends shooting a fox earlier this year, letting it struggle for life for five minutes and then beating it to death with a stick,” he said.

The RSPCA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is in charge of handing over evidence to British prosecutors in cases where they believe acts of cruelty to animals have been committed.

They said they found “no evidence” that any offence had taken place in January, when the incident took place.

“An independent post-mortem examination was carried out and found that the fox died from gunshot wounds – and no evidence of other injury or trauma was found,” it said in a statement.

“The only witness who could have supported the version of events reported in some sections of the media refused to give a statement.”

McGowan said the dog, which died at a breeding farm, tasted “really, really disgusting,” and added that Ono “looked a bit strange” as she also tasted the dog.

  1. Terry and Grace

A man shows his support for animals by eating an animal.
People like him give all humans a bad name.

  2. Kemmy

    Well said Terry and Grace!

This man’s actions make no sense at all.

  3. Dixie

Wasn’t John Lennon a vegetarian? I thought Ono was too! Maybe not.
But all I can say is that there were a lot better ways to get the public’s attention on the Royal Hunting than this.
And he got the Corgi from a breeding farm? Sounds like what we here in USA call a Puppy Mill!!!!
What decent breeder would allow such a thing to happen to one of their dogs?
    What sacriege!

  4. Pita and Bob

Eat an animal to protest killing animals? Ok Joko - what’s the matter, been out of the headlines too long? John would have slapped you silly. I suppose I will have to protest the Beatles LOVE show in Vegas now!

  5. Ed

The article I read about this said that the dog had already died of natural causes. It was not killed to be eaten.

As I see it that makes this a much better act than eating the pieces of pig or chicken or calf that are sold in supermarkets, At least in this case the animal was not deliberately killed and was cooked for a good cause — to protest cruelty. Unlike the pigs and chickens who are eaten only because people like their flavor and don’t care how much suffering they go through before they are turned into meat.

  6. Mocha Bear

Talk about two wrongs TOTALLY not making a right…unreal.

  7. Gem

How disgusting. I don’t believe eating a dog will make any other impact beyond shock value. It seems to me like this was done for little more than selfish publicity. Dogs are not meant to be eaten, nor should foxes be hunted, and their fur be worn.

  8. Wanda

how sick one does this another does
    that when does it end??

  9. Vincent and Rosie

Oh my goodness! Two wrongs don’t make a right. I know some cultures eat dogs in the same way that Americans eat cows - but this is pure sensationalism. I think the “artists” will find that this hurts their cause.

  10. Kelli

Protesting an action by cmmitting an equally horrific action demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the issue and does nothing to promote a better, more humane way of life. Shame on them.

  11. Juliana

    Ick.

  12. Basset Doodle

What an ass. This is wrong on so many levels.

  13. Sarah Smartypants

pullleaaase! These people should be prosecuted for being idiots!

  14. Lola

CORGIS ARE FOR CUDDLING NOT EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Mary

What a schmuck! I can’t believe that Yoko would stoop so low. What’s wrong with these people?

  16. Erin

What was the point? What does this whole thing prove, other than that this guy will do anything for publicity?!

  17. doglover

His actions have done nothing……. except DISGUST.
His time and energy could have been well spent furthering the plight of dogs in pretty much ANY other way…..
