SUPER, GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!! BUT NO money could ever replace any anguish! So it had better be a good amount….YET….Money will be made off oft his big time. And i don’t mean by the precious victims and their families!

  2. Joy

And youy’re right Dr. Janet that money will be made off of this. But isn’t that the main way we have to punish corporations? We can’t charge them with murder or even reckless endangerment. All we can do is hope that the fine they pay is large enough to deter them or ayone else for being so greedy in the future.

  3. Pat

True, our pet suffered, but survived. But this can’t go unnoticed. I have heard that only breeders and show people are the only ones who might collect if suing individually. The only voice that will be heard is a class action suit. And my participation in a suit isn’t about the money. It’s the harm done and for the people whose animils were sickened bvut they could not afford the expensive vet care. ( It cost our family $900 and we would have spent that gladly regardless of the cause.) But Menu foods is only part of the equation. What about the supplier in China. And what about this internationally? Were animals in other countries harmed?

  4. Joy

    Pat

You raise some very good questions. I doubt if anyone has answers to those questions.

  5. Barbara Rudy

I live in New York State and I lost my cat Lily to kidney failure. She was eating Nutro Natural Choice from the pouches and they were on the list of contaminated food. If there is a class action suit I would like to join it. I think Menu Food Company should take responsibility for what they caused. My vet bill was over $1,200 because she was in the hosipital for 5 days on intravenous with meds and tests to try to save her. My heart was broken when she wasn’t responding and we had to put her to sleep. Please let me know what I need to do to join the law suit. Barbara Rudy

  6. Joy

As of right now, I have only heard from two law firms, this one in Arizona and another in California. I am sure there will be more in the other states so any law firms handling these class actions in your states, please bark in! I would love to share your information with Dogsters and Catsters.

I’ll be posting the information on California tomorrow,

thank you in advance for your help

    Debbie

Some Dogsters have been barking in about specific herbs that help cleanse kidney toxins. I am not a veterinary homeopath and would definitely NOT say to use herbs INSTEAD of seeking veterinary help BUT in a pinch and if your furbaby is not showing signs of kidney damage AND if you really can’t afford the veterinary care then you might want to check out some of the holistic pet care sites, or better still, visit a good, small pet store with a staff that understands holistic care.

Is there any way your vet can work out a payment schedule for you? If not, I might consider looking for a new vet. Most good vets have to make money but they also understand that we’re all facing a highly unusual situation with this recall.

Meanwhile, get prepared to join a class action suit against Menu. I’ll be posting more information later today about who to contact to join a suit.

  12. Lisa & Argi

I am not sure what this site is about … today my beautiful white persian cat named argi was going to the vet … because I was afraid and he did not make it through the night … I found he dead … just 3 weeks he traveled with me and has health papers and everything… so fast … i wonder if I suppose to have a autoposy done ?

  13. Frances

My dog Banjo was also affected by this recall so far he is doing good though, I consider him to be one of the luky ones, and I still have two cans of the recalled food. I called menu foods and then they called me back a couple days later they gave me a claim number and said they would send me some paper work, this has been weeks ago, I had a feeling they wouldn’t follow through with it. So yes I would also like to join in on a class action lawsuit

  14. idalia

I know what you all are feeling. 2 of our 3 pets were affected by this. The FDA called us once and we haven’t heard from them since. We had our 2 doggies in the hospital for 3 days and it was the most awful feeling to see them in such bad conditions. We are fortunate to have them home and they seem to be doing better, but we have to have their blood drawn every 3 weeks to make sure the toxin levels are not rising. They are on a special diet now and are having a hard time with the food. It has been a big trauma for them as well and I hope that this lawsuit goes through…Count me in please!

  15. Greta

I’m not sure if Royal Canin is made by Menu Foods or not, I just know that my 1 yr 4 month old Pug - Buster is now Blind and having problems walking straight. He’s afraid to go for the walks he used to love, he would practically pull my dad around the whole neighborhood with total excitement, but not anymore. The Vet told us his liver count is out of wack but the bigger problem is blindness, that the bad food may have caused him to have a STROKE!! Buster is like a son to me, I had to have a hysterectomy in April 2005 so my honey got me Buster in March of 2006 he was 9 weeks old, he jumped out of his truck and right into my arms, it was meant to be!!! And now my poor little boy is so sad and effected by the bad food, the Royal Canin was pulled off the shelf on April 17th. Not soon enough to keep my baby from suffering though!!! I want to know what I have to do, please help me, please!!! A Mom in Distress

  16. Joy

    Greta,

I am so sorry for you and your little boy. There are several things to do:
First make sure that your vet documents that Buster’s problems were directly caused by the food.
Next make sure you keep any food packages (if you haven’t already thrown them out)
Talk to some of the law firms who are handling class action suits to see if you qualify.

All my best thoughts are with you and Buster!

  17. Laurie Sargent

I want to get in on any and every class action suit. Can I still join? My Toy Poodle died because of Mighty Dog. My vet bill wasn’t real high, but I did lose my companion and my friend. I want those jerks to pay because they were greedy and tried to take a cheap way to make more profit for themselves, and that resulted in them killing my dog.

  18. Joy

    Laurie,

Please contact the law firms directly.

And we’re all pulling for you and the others taking on these selfish companies and officials!

  19. Jim

I believe that our Trout, a sweet and beautiful Golden Retriever, died due to the tainted food. We fed him Iams dry and wet pouches. He suffered all of the symtoms for 2 weeks before Christmas. I know this is earlier than reported but I believe that this problem goes further back than first reported. I have friends that had to put their standard poodle down 2 weeks before we had to do the same 2 days after Christmas.

I am ready to join any class action suit I can to make sure this does not happen again. We must take responsibility for these animals who trust us with their very existance. It sadens me to think I am the one that bought and fed this food to my beloved Trout. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him and I still cry from missing him. We were together every day for 6 years.

    Have a nice day!!!

I just want to know if wat are the signs or symptoms of breast cancer? coz i have a female chow she is pregnant and she is expected to give birth on Sept. 13, 2007. I wonder why one of his breast become larger than the others ,and for me it is not normal. i give him mefenamic acid and I observe now she sleep well and I think her breast reduce smaller. One thing more I’ve seen a black mole a beans size on her back. Is this a sign of cancer?
Please I need your help I love my pet very nuch.
thank you and God bless you.

Our Mindy cat ate the tainted food and was very ill. She will always have problems now due to this. Not only were her kidneys affected she now has a perioneal hernia and cartiledge breakdown due to this. I’ve spent more than $1200.00 and still counting. I have joined a class action suit with berning and weil in alamo, ca. It is unbelieveable to me that menu foods can get away with this and that our animals have had to suffer as well as our pocketbooks which some of us do not have money for this.

  22. Jacqueline

Are there still class actions lawsuits for dogs affected by recalled pet foods? I live in New Jersey and my dog was recently diagnosed with kidney problem that my vet feels is a result of consumption of Nutro dog foods.
