It's bad enough that we are loosing our furbabies from this and they don't seem to really care, they say that they are animal loving people but if they were, they would get down to the bottom with this and name the source. I've read several times on differet websites before all this recall about how in other countries , they don't think of dogs and cats the way we do and actually consume them. personally I think that is just sick but I guess for them it is like eating other meat. Pretty soon it will be a recall of somethng we eat ourselves and then the source will be named. I wonder if ALL the companies know exactly where this wheat gluten came from. I feed my baby IAMS dry food and they say they don't use wheet gluten in their dry foods? I am wondering if that too is true.

am I the only person who's noticed that nobody is saying who the supplier of the poisoned wheat gluten is? in every AP article, it's always "an unnamed supplier".

you know what I think? this gluten got into the human food supply, and there's a huge FDA coverup going on.

you read it here first.

we can debate endlessly about fault. Bottom line is thousands of healthy animals have had their health permanently compromised and their lives shortened.
Winston's urine gravity is still poor after a week back home from hospital, and now he has protein in the urine... renal failure, a killer, but just not today...

I personally wouldn't hold Menu fully responsible in this. 70% of our wheet gluten is imported. You can't call a company careless when they do the exact same thing that almost every other company is doing perfectly safely. That would be like calling Ford Motor Company careless for using Firestone tires back when they had that huge recall on SUV tires.

Now, if testing confirms that this contamination problem has been there since we started getting wheat from Asia (doubt EU wheat is the problem), then yes, I would call them careless or irresponsible for having not caught it sooner.

I've got a Min Pin, Sara, that has been battling kidney failure and cancer for well over a year now. She only eats Pedigree dry food, which so far has been cleared of contamination, but I did feed her some wet food before she got sick. Now, I wonder if this has anything to do with her problems.

This was such a sad situation. I can't believe how careless the Menu foods company was in choosing retailers to buy ingredients from... so sad all those animals had to suffer.
