No cat should eat any form of dry food or treats.

Cats are obligate carnivores that need meat to survive, not cereals loaded with additives, chemicals and preservatives. The PFI makes huge profits by dumping corn, what, soy and rice into kibble products. This has absolutely nothing to do with our pet's health. It is ALL junk food. Kibble is garbage, period. Return it for a refund.

I've been following this case because my sister's cat suffered from kidney failure from Menu Foods' pet food. Apparently, pet owners may not get much out of suing the company because of how pets are only seen as personal property.

here are a few articles I found interesting:

Some of the articles said that Menu foods fed it to their own research animals and they died but still did not do a national recall....what kind of people do we have here making food for animals? certainly not animal lovers. I give my black lab Nutro hard food...has anyone heard anything about it...the kibbles/hard food? How can it not be contaminated if it is made at the same plant?

This news is so troubling along with everything else we have been seeing in the dog food industry lately. I always had my own doubts about Royal Canin. Sadly, it seems to be just another company that flaunts its kibble as so wonderful, and they even have a Veterinary Prescription Diet, which, in reality, is truly a better choice brand-wise than SD or Eukanuba. They give fancy names to their kibbles, such as breed-specific needs and such. But really, it all comes down to ingredients.
Roya Canin, in my opinion, uses too much wheat and ground rice. Cooked brown rice is wonderful, but ground rice...well, why??
Once again, I urge all pawrents to do their own research in to home-cooked diets of meat, rice, veggies, and fruits. Kibble may be more convenient, but is your dog's healthy really worth it?

I feel so bad for these people that have been affected. My pets dog is on the list but they are fine. I must have bought my batch at a different time then the others.
