Florida Assisted Living Center Owner Steals Service Dog from Resident, Dog Dies
Joy

Geoffrey Kinne.jpg

What an evil man! It makes me wonder what else he has done that no one has charged him with yet. Maybe the Florida police need to check this guy out for any missing children cases or other dognappings. A man who will do this, will do anything!

Thanks to MyFox Tampa Bay for this story.

Service dog stolen, later died

SARASOTA - Dogs make great pets, but for the handicapped, service dogs are much more.

“That’s their lifeline. They’re really, really important to the people that have them,” explained dog trainer Jo Ann White.

Joan Gurland and her service dog of 12 years moved in to McIntosh Manor in Sarasota a few months ago.

Dogsters Razzle and Bean Still Lost in California
Joy

Razzle.jpg

Cody’s foster mom Liz barked in the news that Dogster Razzle is still lost and has been since December. Two other dogs are lost in that same area. If you can, help a fellow Dogster find her way home. Most of us know that horrible feeling when one of our fuzzy families are not with us.

Here’s the information from Razzle’s Dogster page.

How Do I Tell if My Coat Has Fake or Real Fur?
Joy

Thanks to J for barking in this timely question:

Can someone tell me how I can tell if the fur (which I had though was fake) on my jacket is from a dog or raccoon dog? I had always assumed it was fake fur until I read this week about the widespread use of dog fur in the fashion industry. How can I tell?

If you know how to tell, please bark in and share the information with the rest of us!

Save Dogs from Live Animal Laboratory Feb. 26

Medical College of Wisconsin Uses Class “B” Dogs

Dogs used for physiology instruction at the Medical College of Wisconsin are purchased from Class “B” random source animal dealer, Kenneth Schroeder of Wells, Minn. Mr. Schroeder has been cited for dozens of violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act, including at least 14 instances of failure to make himself available for inspections, unsanitary and unsafe animal facilities, and inadequate or withheld veterinary care for sick animals.

Sound familiar? This has many similarities to Class “B” dealer C.C. Baird. Last Chance for Animals successfully infiltrated Baird’s kennel and documented the horrible conditions, which led to Baird being charged with hundreds of violations of the Animal Welfare Act and the subsequent permanent revocation of his Class “B” licenses.

SIXTY DOGS ARE SLATED TO BE USED AND KILLED in a live animal lab at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) starting Monday, Feb. 26.

Philippines’ Pit Bull Chief Gives Life Saving Family from Deadly Cobra
Joy

Thanks to Liz, fostermom to Cody, for barking in this article from the CAGAYAN DE ORO JOURNAL! May Chief rest in peace! I hope this story can make it to as many dog lovers and Pit Bull advocates as possible!

May I suggest that we share this with every twit who makes the blanket statement to, “not leave children alone with dogs?” What stupidity! Every case is different! How many lost children (many of them toddlers) have I reported on who made it safely home because a dog stayed with them and watched out for them? Granted, the children were not home with Chief at this moment but the article makes it very clear he was a dearly loved part of the family and spent a great deal of time with the children.

How about sending this to each and every one of the political twits who call for the murder of Pit Bulls just because they are Put Bulls?

Lastly, what about sharing this story with everyone who has a dog stuck in their backyard with the insane idea that he or she will protect them and their families even though the dogs never see the inside of the home! I bet THIS family was glad they had freely shared their life and love with Chief! Dogs protect their pack members but they can’t do it while locked in a backyard or tethered to a stake.

By HERBIE GOMEZ

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (Feb 16) – A pit bull terrier proved beyond doubt that a dog can become a man’s best friend when it saved and gave its life for its master’s wife and her grandmother in Barangay Lapasan here.

The dog named “Chief,” saved 87-year-old Liberata la Victoria and her granddaughter Maria Victoria Fronteras from a cobra that snaked through an opening in the family’s kitchen shortly around 8 a.m. Monday.

American Airlines Misplaces Dogster Faith, the Two-Legged Dog
Joy

Faith.jpg

So if Faith only has two legs, why can’t they buy her a ticket and let her ride in the cabin? In fact, that would be the safest place for her.

As many dog lovers have found out the hard way, letting dogs fly in the luggage area is not the best thing. Faith is flying around to all these media events (and understandably so since Dogster Faith is a very special girl!) but can’t the media bringing her in afford another ticket? There are airlines that will sell tickets for dogs. That’s the ONLY way I would ever let one of mine fly.

And don’t think I’m a Luddite who never gets on a plane! Far from it! Just since the beginning of the year I’ve logged in enough flights to move in on becoming a Northwest Elite flyer again. But plane holds just are not safe for our furfriends. If Sol or one of the others are going to travel with me its IN the main cabin or its by car.

All that aside, I’m really glad to hear Faith is safe with her family!

Thanks to NBC11.com for this news.

‘Faith’ Born Without Use Of Front Legs

ORLANDO, Fla. — A celebrity dog known for walking on two legs was separated from her owner for several hours on Wednesday when an airline put the animal on the wrong flight.
