Atlanta Football Player Jonathon Babineaux’s Pit Bull Kilo Killed After Player Fights with Girlfriend

Unless some stranger broke in to their home and savaged Kilo, the situation seems fairly obvious. Here’a guy who makes a lot of money, kills a dog in some kind of ‘roid rage and the judge sets a $2300 bond! Some justice!

This news comes to us from the AOL Sports Blog.

Dog In Jonathan Babineaux’s Care Died of Massive Head Injury

The story of Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux and his girlfriend’s dog is quite disturbing. The dog, a pit bull mix named Kilo, died of a massive head injury, and the accounts suggest that Babineaux killed the animal after a fight with his girlfriend.

Gwinnett County Police said officers were dispatched Sunday evening to the Animal Emergency Center, where the staff told them that 24-year-old Blair Anderson had arrived with a pit bull mix that was dead upon arrival.

Police said Anderson told them she and Babineaux, 25, had argued at their home. She said she went to the movies, and upon returning found Kilo, her year-and-a-half old dog, in “severe physical distress.”

Police say Babineaux gave them a story that was inconsistent with the injuries Kilo suffered. Babineaux was released on a $2,300 bond.

in some states, orders of protection now also cover companion animals–you can see why that’s needed nationwide.

  4. Sheila

This is a unfortunately all to common behavior of an abusive partner.

Charges should be filed for domestic abuse…
in addtion to the ones already for animal cruelty.

Hopefully his employer -Atlanta Falcons- will also favor him with some consequences!

    Joy,

The only justice our furfriends will ever get is the justice that we demand for them. And you’re absolutely right Rhon! Companion animal coverage is needed nationally and outside of the US as well!

Every chance I get, I make the point with non-animal people that abuse against animals is just a surrogate for abuse against their humans. If we wait until the abuse moves on to humans it is too late! While we can never repay the abused and murdered animals for their torture and sacrifice, we can at least try to change things for those who come after us and them by bringing animal abusers (and future human abusers) to justice as quickly and surely as possible.

I hope the girlfriend left the guy. Wouldn’t be safe living with a cold-blooded killer.

Thats horrible. He needs to go to jail for that and pay a huge fine!!

I live in SW Georgia and we have passed a law that it is now a felony to harm an animal. Im confused on why he was let out on such a small bond. If he would do that to an innociant dog what would he do to her ?

  12. Tammy

That poor pup, that fine is a slap on the wrist, he’s a Football player with big bucks he’ll get away with it with alittle more money He should get jail and fine. What I’m really hopeing is his girl friend realizes that, He could possiably do this again and it might not be the animal. Hopefully she leaves him.

What a low life!!! The really sad part is that poor baby had no idea why he was getting hurt. We can only hope there is a special circle in hell for people who are cruel to those weaker than they are!!

  14. Christoher

This is as reprehensible an act as I’ve ever heard in my 25 + years as an N.F.L. fan. I’ve posted a bulletin on my myspace about this matter, and will continue to do so daily. Unfortunately, the only way to exact any sort of justice on this individual is to hit him where it hurts, in the pocketbook. I encourage everyone to go to atlantafalcons.com and let them know that this player should be outright cut from the team. This guy is a spare anyway, meaning he STINKS as a player, and obviously as a man.

  15. Rosie (chi)

What a freaking thug. He will get off with a slap on the wrist. He will pay big bucks for a sick lawyer to defend him. He was only training the dog with a shovel smashed into his head! What an absolute barbaric thug. I hopw his girlfriend leaves him. I can’t believe this kind of aggression hasn’t shown itself before to her! How can these men get away with this stuff!!
