Dogster Nikki Moves to the Bridge
Joy

Nikki

Every time I hear about another Dogster passing, I’m saddened. I know how it feels to have a furry loved one go beyond where you can touch and hold them again. It hurts in ways only those of us who let ourselves love them understand. So my heart goes out to Nikki’s family and friends. But remember, while you hurt, she is free of the pains of old age. Look for her in your dreams!

Thanks to Gale, Chloe’s furmom, who barked in to give us the sad news.

Joy,
All of us at Shih Tzu Friend United were sad to hear our friend, Nikki, has gone to Rainbow Bridge. Nikki was 21 years old. Her mom took her in at 10 years old, when many would not think to take a dog, and she and Nikki spent 11 years together.

Nikki was loved by a very special furmom “Angel” appropriately named, who in spite of her pain is out doing what she always does….helping to rescue as many animals in our area as she can reach! I love you Angel and my thoughts are with you!

We were so sorry to hear about our friend, Nikki. We think she was so blessed to have found a furever home, even as a lil senior girl. We are happy that she is not in any pain but know her momma needs our prayers. Thank u for taking in an older furbaby and giving her a woofderful homelife!

Nikki and I had a special relationship, one I will always cherish forever. Her first 9 years of her life was horrible. No DOG should have had to endure what she did. Run over twice, never taken to a vet for medical treatment of her injuries. Their logic was if she lives she lives, if she dies she dies. Abused verbally, beaten, kicked, thrown around like a rag doll physically. Not loved or understood or cared for.
While Nikki lived with us, she was loved, spoiled rotten as any old dog should be and any animal should be treated. Her spirit was so trusting of humans even after all she had been through, re homed in five different homes before she was abandoned and landed in my loving arms to care for her. What a blessing that was. It took Nikki almost two years to come to terms of understanding she was not going to be mistreated at the hands of any human EVER again in her life. For the first time in her life she came to know gentle loving hands, and love.
I still cry myself to sleep clutching her blanket, drawn to my face so I can inhale her scent. My eyes are slits, and I dare not to look into the mirror, as I am sure I must look like death warmed over. I know in my heart I did the right thing to return her to her creator, although not easy to deal with. I continue to help other pets in need because that is what Nikki would have wanted me to do. Because she was rescued, mistreated in her earlier years of her life, she would have wanted me to show the other less fortunate pets in shelters, on the roadways, in ditches, in bad situations in the custody of an abusive pet owners, the same kind, loving, caring hands she became accustomed too.
In loving memory of my sweetie tzu angel, Nikki, I love you dearly and miss your sweet fun loving antic’s hour by hour, minute by minute, day in and day out until we meet again my little one,
God Speed, you’re job is done here on earth. You taught me well. Love Mom.
