Now we know — fat can save your dog’s life!

I found this Starpulse News Blog article via Ecorazzi.com.

Diane Keaton Ran Her Dog Over

Oscar winner Diane Keaton was left in shock after accidentally running over her beloved dog, Red.

The Something’s Gotta Give star was driving her hybrid car at the time, which runs very quietly and believes her dog didn’t hear her coming.

She explains, “I ran over my dog! I had a Lexus, like a hybrid, and it’s silent and I was going into my driveway and my dog Red was there and I didn’t see him!”

The 61-year-old star was thrilled her pet didn’t suffer any serious injuries adding, “Red is great. Red lived. This dog is 15 years old. I found him on the street. The truth is Red had no injuries because he’s so fat. I ran over him on his rib cage and they didn’t break! He is rolled in fat. And thank God, it’s good to know, because you want to be bigger if you get run over! I love that dog so much, he’s a miracle dog. Thank God Red made it!”

    What a ding bat.

  2. dogmom

I would say dingbat also, except your rearview mirror doesnt show ALL, certainly not anything that low to the ground; maybei t wasnt his habit to be there on the driveway or street, so se (obviously) didnt ck there first…. I do becasue of neighborhood children or animals that people dont properly watch. (however, I do not approve of dogs running loose, unattended, thats what a backyard is for)

  3. Ozzie Lu

Dogmom, you are sweet but from what it says here she ran over her “fat” dog coming into the drive way, not backing out. Furthermore, no car runs quietly enough to escape a canine ear. I guess in Hollywood this passes for comedic material but in my book it’s just careless. Two Thumbs Down Diane!

  4. cathy

oh wow is she still lucid ? it does not sound like it . My god i think this woman has lost it . who runs over their dog and make a comedy act out of it . she is locco . I dont care for her or her work really . I think there are much more sophisticated actresses out there such as Meryl streep and she still has a mind .

I totally agree. She is trying to be funny and it definitely is not a funny event. She should have been watching more carefully when she pulled into her driveway. It sounds like she is glad her dog is fat too. Also, like above, a dog’s hearing is many times more than a human’s unless he was was deaf being 15 years old but she said nothing about that being the case. This definitely was no laughing matter.

I agree with the above comments - it’s nothing to joke about. I would have been devastated, especially if I had a dog for 15 years! I really liked Dianne Keaton….until I read this story.
