Update on the Orange County Humane Shelter
I previously posted that the rumor that the Orange County Humane Shelter is closing and killing dogs may be wrong. As more and more evidence comes out, it looks like there may be some truth to the rumor.
Members of President Isabel’s Animal Abuse Commission have been investigating the situation and I would encourage all Dogsters who want to follow the story to check out the posts over in that group! These are some dedicated Dogsters!
Here is a link to a very informative post on the subject from Red, a Dogster looking for a new home. Note that you will have to join the group to follow this story but it is a great group anyway!

Thank you so much for picking up the story about the OCHS! They were cited in 2004 by the City of Costa Mesa. I’ll put that information on President Isabel’s Animal Abuse Commission in a few minutes.
More information about the story can also be found on this new group: Cats and Dogs Needing Adoption Soon! Updates on the OCHS, the Houston Dogs story and the Puppy Death in GA can be found there.

I have a story about 30 Houston Dogs Needing to be Saved before Jan 8th. Please check this out ASAP!

And here’s an even better photo link for the Houston dogs. It shows who was adopted/fostered and who wasn’t:

We already have one interested Dogster pup, Wrangler, who needs help transporting some of the remaining dogs from Houston, TX to Greenbrier, AK.
Contact Wrangler – Dogster ID # 375687.
I just got an email from someone very heavily involved in rescue work. Even though the newspapers are still claiming that the shelter never intended to kill any animals, this is what she has to say about that:
Once this doctor bought out OC Humane, it was not a no-kill. There have been protestors of his decision-making throughout his ownership.
… I did have someone, who works for the shelter, stop me in the parking lot on Sunday. She assured me that many animals would have been dead if it hadn’t been for the public outcry and the public spotlight.
