Dogs are really helpful in many ways. My Shih Tzu even barks at anyone and currently, he is my in-house watchdog(i also had a watchdog outside the house). dogs are truly man's best friend.

We have had a program at my library for four years now.
A Child, A Dog & A Good Book. Various registered Therapy Dogs have come and enjoyed stories and companionship.
My small DoxieX, Hanna Banana, comes in, checks everyone out and them goes belly up for a good belly rub while listening to stories. The kids read, we read, Hanna listens.

I think this is such a great way for kids to improve their reading skills. This is what Mudge and I are working toward. We're really hoping our school district and possibly our library will be open to implementing a program like this.
