Chinese Activists Mourn Murdered Dogs
Joy

Chinese activists

These are our fellow dog lovers in China. Let’s not forget them as they struggle for their rights and the lives of their dogs.

Thanks to Reuters for this picture of Chinese activists as they mourn dogs murdered as part of the Chines government’s attempt to eradicate rabies by outlawing and killing large dogs and others deemed dangerous. This protest occurred on December 2nd.

Personally, I feel for them as a dog lover. Do you have the actual link to the article?

    Thanks for barking in Chirapha!

There wasn’t an article directly tied to this picture. There have been a number of them though. Check back in this blog to read three or four articles on teh Chinese dog purges.

how glad I am to live in a country where I am free to have a dog or dogs (breed legislation and other restrictions not withstanding). My heart goes out to these poor souls…and her armband has the picture of a Golden…so sad

How absolutely devastating! If anything should push the people of China to revolt against their government, this should. There’s a famous quote that says something about the the true mark of a civilisation being how they treat their animals.

  6. Kate

How sad, I can see where the government is trying to go with this, but I don’t think this is the right way to go about doing it! From what I’ve read, only about 3% of all dogs in china are vaccinated for rabies. Maybe they should have started by making vaccinations required?

first religion, now dogs, whats next is china going to ban people all together.

good for these people to revolt but honestly if i was them i would flee with my pup

Seems like the only freedom china has is to NOT kill the pandas
