Joy

Happy New Year to all dog and cat lovers everywhere!

As we watch the New Year come in it’s also time to remember what is important about life. So get out those tissues again! We’ve got a real tearjerker here!

Thanks to Chico for posting this very true poem in the Over the Rainbow Group! If anyone knows the author please bark in!

I AM YOUR DOG

Author Unknown

I am your dog, and I have a little something I would like to whisper in your ear.

I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work. Some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.

If you’re getting the winter blahs or just need a hit of sunlight, check out Chloe in Dog Each Day today! She’s decked out with Hawaiian sunshine! Looking good, Chloe!

Hi Joy,

It’s my turn! Larry Merrill selected me as his Dog of the Day for Sunday, December 31st. Whew! We are running out of time in this Year of the Dog, but I made it. He did a great job! He captured me in my Hawaiian look I had for the Shih Tzu & Friends United Luau this past summer! I’m thrilled. (So is my human, Gale and my doggie sister, Roxy)!

Happy New Year’s Joy!

South Carolina Shelter Worker Makes Extra Effort to Rescue Pit Bull Mix Kelsi
Joy

Kudos to Kara for being dedicated to helping dogs! Thanks for your efforts!

This is a nice story but there’s one big part left out that makes it not so happy. What about the people who adopted Kelsi to start with? Where are they? Did Kelsi get loose and they never found her? Or instead as I suspect, did they drive her hours away and drop her in a rural area so they wouldn’t feel guilty? This writer has somewhat glossed over this aspect of Kelsi’s story.

I wish for Kelsi a new home with people who will love her the rest of her life!

This article ran on The State.com.

Update on Dog Murder By North Carolina Police on Christmas
Joy

Surprize, surprize, the police have cleared their own for the shooting of the supposedly dangerous dogs in Raleigh, North Carolina. Seems the police are claiming Truman ran towards the young and obviously inexperienced policeman so he felt he had to shoot him. The family claims the dog was on leash and tied on the porch. Of course, this is the same policeman who shot a dog based on a hospital report that the dog had bitten her guardian. Turns out, it was a scratch done in passing. Let’s see who do I believe? I’m betting on the family as being more reliable than an inexperienced police rookie.

BTW, notice that this semi-official version barely mentions the murdered dog and dismisses any concern about her by saying the owner was bitten. Check the previous report on this blog for more information on that incident.

Thanks to WRAL.com for this update.
