A puppy mill is a business that breeds puppies only for money and does not care about the welfare or the breeding of the dogs that are in the business or that come from the business. Signs that a breeder is a puppy mill are:

Extremely poor living conditions for the dogs (i.e spending their lives in cages or crates with little or no human interaction other than being fed, bred or having the puppies taken from the mother).

Females being bred at every opportunity such as at first heat, every heat, oftentimes twice a year. They are bred to such an extent that they often experience physical breakdowns very early in life.

Large numbers of dogs being sold from one breeding business and often multiple breeds of dogs.

Little care being taken for the best breedings so that registration papers often cannot be accurately assigned to the correct dogs.

Poor breeding practices so that genetic problems are not addressed and dogs are produced with problems that could have been prevented if even simple care had been taken in planning breedings between suitable dogs.

Many of the puppy mill people work together to hide their businesses by moving them from farm to farm to keep away from inspectors.

Not being open to real inspection by potential buyers other than the corporate types. Oftentimes puppy mill owners who sell to the public will rent “show” homes or other places to foll potential buyers into thinking the puppies were hand raised in a home (the way they should be). When buyers ask about the parents they will not be allowed to meet them.

I could go on Helen but I bet you’ve got the picture by now. In effect, puppy mills are to dogs what slavery is to humans — inhumane, evil and a black mark on the soul of humanity.

For our part, President Isabel and I pledge that, no matter what the outcome, we will continue to protest and launch boycotts against any company that uses inhumane practices, including the Hunte Corporation, which we have no doubt is one of the forces behind this bill. If arrested under this act we will take our case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. Do not let the sexual perverts, liars and scumbags in Congress intimidate you from exercising your CONSTITUIONAL RIGHT to free speech.
