Act Now to Help Stop Dogs Being Eaten in the Phillipines!
PLEASE CROSSPOST!
Now is our chance to help stop the horrendous practice of eating dogs who should be family members, not family dinner!
Thank you Mario Lorenzo Lucca’s human for working hard to get the word out!
To all our beloved Dogster supporters,
I have good news!
Monday morning, 9/18/06, members of the coalition to uphold The Philippine Animal Welfare Act of 1998, RA 8485 will hold a meeting to decide the fate of our cause.
As previously mentioned, House Bill No. 2991 has already been submitted in 2004 to amend RA 8485, reflecting stiffer jail term sentences and higher fines. Unfortunately, we believe this new bill isn’t comprehensive enough. It has loopholes regarding the inhumane slaughter of dogs for the purpose of human consumption, a huge epidemic in the Philippines. It is estimated that around 290,000 dogs are being killed for food in the Philippines every year. This translates to approximately 174 million pesos (or $3.8M US) a year’s worth of livelihood and industry for those involved in the dog meat trade.
So what exactly will happen on Monday’s meeting? Frankly, the coalition members will decide one way or another whether it has enough time and resources to focus on our cause, to update the law and DO something about it!
So, here’s my plea to all of you Dogster supporters kind enough to care about our poor dogs in the Philippines.
Please email the coalition, urging them to take action. If not now, I am afraid this entire issue may not get addressed again until waaaay after the May 2007 Philippine elections, which is all the focus of Philippine government officials right now.

Oh, I hope there’s a coalition too here in Indonesia, cause there are slaughters of dogs for the purpose of human consumption too in some parts of Indonesia, ex. Manado in Sulawesi Island and some parts of Sumatra Island. They even make Dog meat as traditional food
My friend told me that a traditional restaurant in Manado kills a dog per day and makes a meal of it. Is there something I can do?

[...] Dogsters are leading the fight against dog cruelty around the world. So I want to welcome the Humane Society of the United States as they join Dogster Luc in the struggle they began last year against the dog meat trade in the Philippines. [...]
every1 who eats or kills dogs should burn in hell!
If only the dog meat can be made as inedible as possible. I wish the vaccinations given to dogs in the Philippines would render their meat as toxic for eating without harming the dogs themselves. Make the meat unsafe for eating! Put a warning saying “This Dog is Hazardous to your health if you dare EAT it.” But then there are idiots who would eat toxic dogs regardless.
dogs are to be our best friends only…stop it
