World’s Ugliest Dog Crowned
This just in from Qatar’s Gulf Times, Archie has been crowned the World’s Ugliest Dog.
2006 World’s Ugliest Dog, Archie, a Chinese Crested is seen during the 18th annual World’s Ugliest Dog competition on Friday at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California. Heather Peoples of Phoenix, Arizona, and her dog Archie took home a $1,000 prize for winning this year’s contest

I think that it is very cruel to have a contest that names a dog “the ugliest dog in the world”. It is cruel because even though some dogs have problems, it is no reason to degrade them in such a way. In this world, it’s time to show humanity, don’t you think? I hope whoever is reading this realizes my intentions and I hope there is never such a humiliating and degrading contest again. If you wouldn’t want to be entered in such a contest, do you think your dog would? Please think hard about this comment and I hope this comment will make somewhat of a difference on humanity.
I agree: it seems mean-spirited in the extreme, like a circus freak-show, enjoying some laughs at the expense of an animal who, by the look of it, suffers from one or more conditions that make its daily life a struggle. I hope this animal and ones like it receive some small comfort from the money that its dubious distinction earned for its owner.
Are you two serious?!? Dogs love attention. And this contest makes them the center of attention. You talk about how degrading this is to a dog, but is it really? YOU make it degrading to the animal because that’s how YOU see it. I would bet that 99.99% of the owners that enter their dogs in this contest do it with a light heart and all in good fun. It’s the people who run off looking for the next cause to crusade for make it degrading. You are the people that add a negative element to an otherwise fun and silly event. I hope MY comment makes a difference in YOU. Quit whining so much and lighten up. The world has enough problems without you creating more.
Archie is a perfectly healthy, but fat dog. Get over yourselves DOG’S dont get embarassed!!!!!!
Does anybody know how I can contact Heather Peoples, the owner of Archie, who won the ugly dog contest in 2006? We’d like to stage an event with Archie at our local church. if anyone can help please contact me!
